It's not possible to describe an average career in mining and minerals. Graduate careers range from law through finance to design and management. Starting salaries for graduates are up to £25,000 and, ten years after graduation, they can rise to £60,000. Although the majority of UK graduates are based in the UK, your career could take you from Antarctica to Zambia. These descriptions will give you an idea of what the jobs can be like (both the good bits and the not so good bits).

Whether you work in the finance and management side of the industry; in laboratories and design offices or out in the field - you'll find a tremendously rewarding career. We don't just mean in financial terms either, as you read our real life stories you'll see a great deal of satisfaction is gained from the contribution an individual can make. For some it was ensuring Aboriginal land rights were upheld, for another it was taking responsibility for sinking one of the deepest mine shafts in the world. All find working with people a great experience, meeting individuals who come from all backgrounds, continents and cultures.
