A: meetings, personnel management, design work, analysis, liaison with pit operations, extensive work with mine equipment and special projects

A: problem solving, meeting different people, the mix of field work and office work

A: the petty politics and a lack of understanding by senior management as to how long a task takes

A: sinking a new shaft in South Africa

A: being part of a successful Native Title Negotiation Team in Australia
Q: any suggestions for students starting out?
A: Try and get a gap year in a mining company before studying. Experience is everything!
